I made enquiries about the Time Capsule and yes it is still there.

It is set in the school grounds within a circle of log seats and waiting for future generations to be curious enough to dig it up,

Hello!
My name is Sarah Elliott I used to go to Mountbatten primary school. Its was my first ever school I left in year 2. My dad was posted by the army to Nottinghamshire. I now live in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. When I left my teachers name was Mrs. Donnett.

I wish I could come back to see everyone, I am now in year 6 and in 5 days I leave primary school.

I don't remember many people. I remember,
Carl Collins, Chloe leigh-bland and Keither Buck.

I was at mountbatten school in the early 90's. The fire in1992 is still very clear to me. But the school does bring back so many happy memories for me, including the beach parties we had on the school field and the school dinners were fab. Most people moan about their years at school but i always say i enjoyed my time at primary school and thats because i attended mountbatten.

Went to this school for a couple of terms in 1958 before going on to boarding schools in Plon and Hamm. My teacher was Miss Tochrane - lovely lady! I lived in Klein Hehlen in Bachstrasse. If you go to Multimap site and type in Witte Strasse it gives an excellent aerial view of the school. Would love to get in touch with anyone who was there between 1958 and 1961.

Wow, glad i have found a peice of missing jigsaw. When we first came to Germany in 76, We lived at Wathlingen, near the salt mine, we attended what use to be called Collingwood School then. My father was stationed at the Trenchard Barracks, then we moved to the all new family quarters, just about half a mile from the barracks. i am sure you know where i mean. We use to go to Collingwood, in an old, green Army bus, with a crunchy gearbox, lol. Whilst most of the other kids arrived in big, white fancy coaches. I even remember the sports day of 76, in the school field. Twas a boiling hot summer then. And i remember having to go see Mr. Walters (The headmaster) For not playing nice in the wendy house. lol. I was soooo scared, he was a fearsom headmaster, as you can well imagine. I use to have a crush on a lass called Tracey Brikkate, with her long blonde hair, and big blue eyes. It was all those years ago now, and still remember her. Back in Bradford now, and father is working as a security gaurd, in Blackpool. He was known as Basher Briggs, at the time. For why, i will never know. That is all for now. Take care everybody. Hady x

Hi everyone I used to go to school at Mountbatten a long time ago when my dad was posted in Celle. It would have been around 1989-1991 although I came home to England when my dad went off to Desert Storm. I have some very fun memories of my time there and was just showing my husband and look forward to showing my children when they grow up where exactly their mummy went to school.

I am now living in America, although not military, enjoying the sun and views of Idaho. Good luck to everyone and every child in the British Army, I am and will always be a good old Army Brat =)

Hi everyone. I used to go to Mountbatten School. I was there from Reception to Year 1. My dad, Mr Jim Tague, was a teacher there.

If I remember correctly my Reception teacher was Mrs Case and my Year 1 teacher was Miss Vir Singh. I was also there when the school caught fire! The middle part of the school was blocked off with temporary walls that were painted with Biff and Chip images.

The pictures bring back so many happy memories- it will always be my favourite school and I wish i still lived in Germany :( it's such lovely country... lol i remember the blue spelling certificates, Mr Sommer making a joke about strawberry-flavoured envelopes cos he said they tasted gross, the football team and Celle long distance run thing. I still have all my jotters and work and MRS BELLAMY-BROWN'S NOVEL!!!

I hope this is of interest to someone but I attended this school in 1954-56. My Dad was in the RAF and we lived first in a families hostel and I had to travel in by bus but then in married quarters where I could walk to school. I remember two lady teachers in particular Miss Malzer and Miss Leach and a male teacher who I think was Mr Daniels??
I really enjoyed my time at this school, and the things that particularly stick in the memory are our nature classes, because we were alongside the forested area and were interested in the different trees etc. Music was also a favourite and I well remember dancing classes ( folk dancing ) and singing lessons. As you will gather my memories are no doubt much different from the pupils nowadays, but thought you might be interested to hear from a now 'golden oldie', still holding fond memories of this school and my fellow pupils. I believe I still have a class photo and can name quite a few still.

I attended Mountbatten from 1996-1998. I spent some of the best years of my life there and have fond memories, in particular of of Mr Summers, Mr Bielby and Mr Evans! I am now due to start mental health nursing, and feel that I should pay thanks to this school for educating me and giving me the best opportunities available! If only I could turn back time, I wouldn't change a thing. Some may also remember that my mother Sue worked at the school, and also reflects very highly on her time at Mountbatten. Best wishes to all staff and pupils at the school, love from Anthony : )

Hi every one, i went to Mountbatten twice, well the first time it was Collingwood! sadly i can not remember when that was, but i did get a Gold Star Award while i was at Collingwood, i think i went to Mountbatten back in 1990 only for a year as i went off to Gloucester School after, but i remember meeting Mr Summers for the first time, and chatting with him, i showed him my Collingwood GoldStar Award and he was really interested in it, a top guy, glad to see you are still there Sir, not sure if you remember but i am sure your wife is/was a teacher and i think she may have taught me else where possibly Heide School in Hohne! I do miss my school days, going to a Services School is the best experience in the world! Well for all those who were there in 1990 i was in my final year and sadly i forget my teachers name, but the class room was upstairs and at the far end of the second floor. If you remember me feel free to mail me gerryparsons79@hotmail.com Thanks all! Glad the old place is still going and i was shocked to read about the fire too back in 1992!

Hi All,

Collingwood School was my first primary school I attended back in 1982, i was there approximately 4 years when my Father was based at Hohne Barracks as part of the Royal Army Medical Corps.

I clearly remember my first day at school, I was introduced to my teacher Mrs Heron and was absolutely petrified when she held out her hand as it was just a stump!

But she turned out to be one of the loveliest teachers I ever had and she taught me how to tie shoelaces and do a plait with those hands!!

I then had Mrs Bell followed by Mrs Horner and Mr Spencer was our Headteacher his son Philip was in my class.

I remember the little green cards that we had for the bookshop upstairs , we used to collect tokens with owls on to be able to get free books.

I also remember when glass bottles of milk ceased to be issued and were replaced by cartons of orange, those cartons used to come with 4 disney stickers and those pupils who had been best behaved that day recieved them.

Our teachers also used to write our names in black marker onto the skins of our fruit!!

I remember school dinners being the best! chicken supreme and braised beef with red pickled cabbage being my favourites.

We used to have painted egg competitions at Easter which were always displayed at the entrance of the dining room.

I also remember when the school was renamed Mountbatten Primary, and when the wooden activity play area was built in the playground.

The big fields at the back was where I spent time playing with my friends, the woodland area around the edges were the best :)

And at home time the big green or white buses would take us home!

One year we did a play at Christmas which was a story of Babouska, and one particular assembley the Headteacher prior to Mr Spencer (I cannot remember his name) told a story of a Tree he said that we would have to remember the tree's name and I do to this day, it was the Ewongalema Tree!!

wow, who'd have thought that mountbatten still existed! i was a pupil there between 1989-1993, shared a class with the likes of adam bond, keiron brown and clint bredin, many of these people can be found on facebook if people want to get in touch. i still remember the fire that ruined the school and we had to go to school in the army barracks- that was mad! Mr Summers i cant believe you are still there, my teachers were Mr Tague, Mr Evans and Mrs Masterson to name a few!

I came across this site through a page on facebook.
I attended Mountbatten back in the 80's for 5 years while my Dad was stationed in Celle.I was at Callingwood when Grenville joined us to make Mountbatten.I have so many great memories of this school. My favourite teacher of all time was Mrs.Heron, but have great memories of Mr.Rivers,Mr Mason,Mrs Woodfine and Mr and Mrs Spencer to name a few.
I hope the school dinners are still as good as they were back when I went there,I looked forward to lunch everyday :)
I pray that my children will go to a school as good as this one was,it was by far the best I went to

i went to mountbatten in 1988-89 and loved my time there.I remember being allowed to perform dances with 4 of my friends at assembly, madonna and jason donovan were the tunes we chose, eeeek!i also remember being in 6th year with one of the nices teachers, cant quite remember her name but she was tall with blonde hair and contact lenses.I remember how when you were the oldest pupils(yr 6 i think)you could sit on chairs in assembly, give out the juice cartons, and be head servers at dinner times.thanks for the memories !

Lol hello emily, I cant seem to get rid of you. Hows things? and anthony hewitson, remember me?? you used to have fights with my brother chris smith, and u came up to our house in 43/3 himmelsberg strasse and i punched u in the nose lol. Then later on we was playing footy and u decided to tackle me badly so we started fighting and i hit u with my chain and wallet. good times lol. Well anyway, its good to see mountbatten looking as lovely as ever. Hope you remember me mr Summers. I was a prefect and me and emily ruled the school sports teams :D Didnt u have a saab Mr Summers? i can remember me and u talking about it and i was saying it was really nice. God I must have been young. Well if anyone wants to get in touch then send me an email :)

Hi there, I attended Mountbatten from 1997 to 2000, I will always remember Mr Livingston being the best teacher I have ever had. One memory that will stay with me is getting a Certificate for feeding the birds that visited the school area - I still have it along with all my others! I'm in 6th form now at St Aidan's in Carlisle and having attended 8 schools; Mountbatten was the best. I have remained in touch with one friend - Faye Heslop and recently found Mark Rooke. I truly enjoyed my time at Mountbatten, more so than Montgomery, Heide or any others I have atteneded. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and guidance during the time I attended. Mountbatten is a brilliant school and I would think my old friends agree whole heartedly with me. Many Thanks - Laura Cooke.

Hi there, I went to this school 1990-93 ish can't remember exact dates, gonna dig out some old papers and check, just stumbled across the site by mistake.
Just thought I'd pop on and see if could find anyone I knew, now living in Yorkshire(used to visit yorks in the school hols to visit my gran) I also beleive I have a photo or two somewhere with names of old class mates so may post them if I find it, see if can contact anyone, it's so easy to lose touch the perils of being forces offspring I guess, although I have great memories of all the places we vistited, but mainly this school due to it being the longest posting we ever had of 4.5 years

I attended Mountbatten through years 1 and 2 when my father was in the Army, I was in Miss Meacham's class. My sister Lucy was in a KS2 class and our mum Margaret was a substitute teacher at Mountbatten too. We left about 2 months after the fire! I remember the big school play all the KS1 years participated in that was based on Sleeping Beauty, one class did a dance to Michael Jackson's 'Bad', the youngest kids dressed up as storks, my class dressed up as the thorns outside Sleeping Beauty's castle. I've still got it on tape! If anyone remembers me, my mum or my sister feel free to email me, sabbaroo@hotmail.com.

I wonder if anyone has any memories of Collingwood School? I was there from 1976 until my dad left 94 Loc. Reg. and we moved to UK in 1980. I have some vague memories of the school and the white coaches and green buses that used to take us from home in Alten Celle to the school and back. Great to see the school is still going strong under its new name!

Hi Bob, and Jan
Stuck infront of the computer again, I still hate the things! No idea what suddenly made me look for Mountbatten..., but, here I am. All these years on I still often think of the many happy times I had during my 5 years with you all - lots of lovely memories. Hope the new term has begun well, it's always as if the holiday never happened isn't it? Love the website, the School looks GREAT!! - we're just getting ours going - I have a fab T.A. who thankfully is doing our bit for KS1.
Have a lovely Spring Term!!
